Exploraciones afectivas I

Exploraciones Afectivas was an intensive two-week workshop in which the students had to make a first approach to the territory in which they will develop their final degree projects during the following year, in this case, in the Vicuña Mackenna Sur neighborhood, at southeast of the city of Santiago. The statement proposed a rereading of the traditional approach of architects to “study” places, understanding participation processes as tools that mobilize diversity and not the unification of consensus, that do not make participation a homogenization. One of the most valuable resources of sociological study would be the uniqueness of what exists, understanding what is particular and giving it a unique value from affectivity. To do this, we proposed to the students to carry out three actions/events that would generate emotional relationships with the neighbors, as a first step to their final projects. In the images We see the third action that the students designed and carried out “THE HOUSE BY THE WINDOW” in which they reproduced an outdoor domestic space corresponding to the neighborhood’s medium-sized housing model and added a series of improvements thanks to the new distribution. The objective was to start conversations with neighbors about their wishes regarding their domestic spaces without having to invade their reality.
